The Domaine de l’Océan began with a family wish: peace, privacy and a direct connection with nature. After many journeys, a walk along this Atlantic coast opened a new possibility.

Recognising a place that felt right
It was not only the ocean that drew us in. There was the forest, open space and the possibility of spending holidays differently with our children. The project developed around those qualities rather than a building imagined beforehand.

Assembling land takes time
Creating the site involved several plots and several owners. That requires time, conversations and documentary follow-up. It taught us to connect the overall vision with each plot's questions: boundaries, access, documents and relationships with neighbouring land.
03
Shaping the intention with an architect
Phase 1 plans a seven-room guesthouse, including an accessible ground-floor room. The existing forest of around 5,000 m² is central to the concept. Shared spaces, views and artisanal materials inform the design. The project is in the design phase; this is not the story of an already operating guesthouse.

Sharing what we learn
We receive enquiries from people hoping to develop their own rural projects. Our guidance builds on this experience: clarifying criteria, organising searches and facilitating professional coordination. We share a process and lessons, without promising the same land, conditions or outcome.
